July 12th Worship Service

Jul 11

Dear all,

If you are new to worshiping with our community, we would love to hear from you. If you have any prayer concerns that you want to share with us, please contact us by using this email address. nfumc@gmavt.net

Today’s scripture comes from the book of Genesis 33:1-10. Since Jacob left his father’s house, he must always be afraid if he would meet his brother Esau again. When he was in the middle of the journey in search of new land, so when all of his family members were so much tired on the road, he heard that his brother Esau is approaching him. He felt he was up against a problem that he cannot possibly deal with by himself. Have you ever felt that your future is out of your control? Jesus was born in Galilee, and in biblical time, Galileans barely had such power to decide their own future. They were always at the mercy of other strong nations. Then what did Jesus do in this historical situation? What does the Lord require of us when we are helpless?

Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change,

the courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,

enjoying one moment at a time;

accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;

taking, as Jesus did,

this sinful world as it is,

not as I would have it;

trusting that You will make all things right

if I surrender to Your will;

so that I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

  1. Many of our church members shared a joy about new pastor Sunjae. Please pray for this time of transition, that we may continue to be built into one community in grace!
  2. Betsy Brown shares a joy with us. Her cousin has been fighting with cancer, and she got good news this week. The result of the scans shows that there is no evidence of cancer now. Thank you for your prayers for Betsy’s family.
  3. Please pray for UMARMY (July 28 – July 31). 5 teachers and 8 teens are participating this year. This year’s UMARMY will be a lot different, but pray for us that we may be able to have a new experience in God’s grace.

We continue on the outdoor fellowship meeting. You can sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044BADAB23A6F58-nfmumc Please bring your own outdoor chairs and wear mask. You can bring your own cookies and coffee!
