What does it mean to “forbear” in difficult times? How can we navigate differences in the church?
Laity and clergy are invited to NFUMC on Sunday afternoon, March 31st from 2pm to 5pm for a conversation with the Rev. Dr. James Calvin Davis, author of Forbearance: A Theological Ethic for a Disagreeable Church. This book offers guidance for how Christians can see disagreement in the church not as a problem, but as an opportunity to practice virtue, and in doing so model for the world a better way for navigating difference.
Dr. Davis is Professor of Religion at Middlebury College where he offers courses in Ethics and Christian Studies with particular interest in religion, ethics, and public discourse in the United States. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). [Information taken from his website]
