Men’s Saturday AM Bible Study
June 16 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am
The first of four weekly Saturday morning Men’s Bible Studies is Saturday, June 16th 7:30–9am at North Ferrisburgh UMC in the Fellowship Hall. We are billing this as food, fellowship, and Bible Study.
Food: Nothing fancy, just bagels, cream cheese, cereal and milk with coffee and juice. Feel free to bring something else.
Fellowship: With a longer period of time (an hour and a half), we can spend more time getting to know each other, and share what is happening both good and bad.
Bible Study: Similar to the monthly men’s breakfast, we will pick a part of the Bible to chew on with some guided discussion. You do not need to attend all four Saturdays; each Saturday will be different and not dependent on the prior sessions.
This Saturday, we will look at the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1:1–17 . Genealogies can be quite tedious to read through, but in 1st Century Palestine a genealogy was effectively your resume or CV. Given that, there are some surprises in this one. See if you can find the five unusual persons in this genealogy. What is unusual about them? Why would Matthew include this in his Gospel? What is the larger meaning? We’ll dig somewhat deeper on Saturday.
Hope to see you then.
